A little gentle care goes a long way with a favourite scrunchie. Our 100% silk and hand-knitted mohair-silk styles have different textures, so treat them separately.

Washing
There is no need to wash a clean scrunchie before its first wear unless you prefer to. Wash when it looks or feels soiled, especially after contact with makeup, hair products or oils, rather than on a fixed schedule. Gently hand-wash in cool water with a small amount of detergent suitable for silk. Avoid soaking, rubbing, twisting and hot water. Machine washing can be rough on silk and the elastic, so avoid it.
For a makeup mark, blot promptly with a clean, cool damp cloth. If needed, test a little silk-safe detergent on an inconspicuous area first, then gently dab and rinse. Avoid scrubbing or applying stain remover without checking that it is silk-safe. For stubborn stains, ask a professional cleaner experienced with silk.
Drying and storage
Press gently between clean towels to remove water, reshape and dry flat away from direct sun and heat. Do not tumble dry or wring. Once completely dry, store loosely in a cool, dry place away from rough jewellery or surfaces that could snag the silk.
Elasticity and styling
Stretch only as much as needed to secure your hair, and do not store the scrunchie pulled around an object. Elastic may relax with wear; washing will not reliably restore a stretched elastic. Put on hairspray, perfume or other styling products before your scrunchie and let them dry to reduce residue.

Washing
A clean knitted scrunchie does not need a first-use wash. Air it between wears and wash only when needed. Use cool water and a small amount of detergent suitable for delicate wool or silk. Support the knit in the water and squeeze gently without rubbing or twisting. Avoid machine washing: agitation and heat may change the texture or shape of mohair. For makeup, blot rather than rub; test any suitable detergent on a discreet spot first.
Drying and storage
Press between towels without wringing, gently reshape and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not hang a wet knit or tumble dry it. When dry, store it loosely so the airy texture is not crushed; keep it away from hooks, Velcro and anything that could catch the stitches.
Elasticity and styling
The knitted fabric can give with handling, while the inner elastic may relax over time. Avoid pulling hard on the stitches or leaving the scrunchie stretched around an object. Use it to add texture to a loose bun or ponytail, handling the knit gently when removing it. Apply styling products first and let them dry before putting it on.
